Char Dham Kedarnath YatraKedarnath is situated on mountain kedar at a height of 12,000 feet. It is one of the twelve shrines of lord Shiva known as twelve Jyotirlingas. Adi Guru Shankracharya did penance hear and attaired Samadhi. It is mentioned in the kedar khand chapter of skandpurana the panavas came to kedarnath to get tham selves purged from the sin of killing their cousins. Pandavas constructed the temple hence the ideals of pandavas , lord Krishna and Mata Kunti are present in the temple.

The Jyotirlinga is open for darshan only for the six months of the year that is from vaishakh to ashwrn (months of hindu calendar) for the rest of the period the peaks of kedarnath remain snow clod and it is not possible to visit temple during this time due to freezing climate and difficult tessain and the temple doors remain closed for this peried. At the time of closure Shri Kedareshwar idel is taken to Ukimath in the from of grand prosession after lighting sacred lamp called “Nanda Deep”. Now , from the month of kartik to chaitra (months of hindu calendar)   the abode of lord shiva is shifted toukimath. During the whole period of closur the saesed lamp (nanda deep) remain lit and at the opening of temple pilgrims feel blessed loy having darshans of the lamp.


Shankaracharya Samadhi : Adi guru Shankracharya took Samadhi at an early age of 32 year. His samadhi is situated behind the Kedarnath Temple. 

Trijuginarayan : According to hindu Mythology this is the very place where lord Shiva got married to Parvati. The eternal flame witness to that auspicious moment still remain enflamed in frot of the temple. 

Tungnath : At 3,680 mt. from Sea level Tungnath is one of the Panch Kedar. It can be reached from Chopta. 

Ukhimath : This is the winter abode of lord kedar and religious seat of pawal the head pseist of the temple.

Chorabari (Gandhi Sarovar) : Only 1 km trek away from Kedarnath. Floating-ice on the crystal clear waters of the lake fascinates the visitors.

Gaurikund : It is the base camp for the treaker's visiting kedarnath temple. It is named Gaurikund because of the temple of Gauri and Spring of hot water.
